Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif Sunday while taking notice of firing on the son of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Officer by smugglers directed the CCPO to arrest the accused immediately and bring them to justice.
The chief minister took action on the report of TV channels whereby it was reported that smugglers fired a volley of bullets injuring Mohsin Yasin, the elder son of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Officer Mian Muhammad Yasin who was conducting a high profile investigation regarding millions of rupees tax evasion.
Assailants-cum-smugglers equipped with sophisticated weapons reached his residence at Wafaqi Colony and called Mian Yasin. In the meantime, Mohsin Yasin reached the main gate of home by a car when the accused opened fire at the vehicle injuring him seriously. He was rushed to Jinnah Hospital.
When contacted, Mian Muhammad Yasin said he successfully launched a crackdown on smugglers and smashed gangs of tax evaders involving Rs 11 billion tax evasion.
He said he also unearthed another gang of smugglers who used to import electronic goods from China and later changed with stones and marbles skipping millions of rupees taxes. He alleged that Johar Town Police were also afraid of arresting highly influential gangsters while they are hurling life threats to him.
He alleged that Johar Town police registered FIR No 1207/15 dated October 11 last but all nominated criminals were still at large.
He said: “He will do or die and will never succumb to the pressure tactics of the smugglers who are bent upon to cause huge loss to national exchequer”.
