The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday issued a notice to the federal government to respond to a petition challenging the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products.
The petition stated that the government increased petrol price without giving any valid reason as there was no change in oil prices in the international market.
The plaintiff urged the court to suspend the notification of increase in petrol price.
On October 31, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced Rs 2.5 per liter raise in petrol price and an increase of Rs 1.45 per liter in the price of diesel.
Prices of kerosene, hi-octane and light diesel remained unchanged.
