The Sindh High Court, Circuit Bench, Larkana, directed on Friday the Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment chairman to immediately constitute teams comprising competent officers to thoroughly probe illegalities, irregularities or frauds, if any, in government hospitals and initiate proceedings against delinquent officers.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Nadir Ali Khoso through his advocate Shamsuddin Abbasi against Medical Superintendent (MS), Chandka Medical College Hospital, and others.
The court issued contempt notice to the chairman Anti-corruption Establishment, Sindh, as no one appeared on their behalf. The health secretary was issued notice for his personal appearance along with comprehensive report on next hearing on October 29, 2015, at 11 am. The secretary was also required to bring complete record regarding status of Sindh Health Care Commission Act, 2013, towards its complete enforcement, policy if any, on issue of handing over teaching hospitals to university(ies), rules/policy etc detailing mechanism for purchase of medicines with or without consultation of hospital’s management and mechanism framed by the government regarding health facilities provided to the public in all sectors, MOU(s) as well relevant directions of PMDC.
The notice was also issued to the medical superintendent and principal, GMMMC & Hospital, Sukkur, as it was pointed out that PMDC had issued a letter for derecognizing of GMMMC & Bibi Aseefa Dental College, Larkana, for insufficient facilities. Dr Amanullah Jokhio, Pro VC, SMBBMU, CMC Principal Dr Sher Muhammad Shaikh, Dr Muneer Ahmed, CMCH MS, Dr Muhammad Nasir Jalbani, DHO, Dr Ghulam Murtaza Soomro, Director, Health Services, Larkana Division, appeared in the court.
