LB Polls – all set to hold polling on Saturday

Polling process for First Phase of Local Body Elections in the provincial capital will be held on Saturday amid strict security of Pakistan Army and Rangers.

According to official sources, a total of 4,305,880 registered voters (male and female) of the city will exercise their right to vote.

In the city, 1149 candidates of Chairman and Vice chairman and 5902 for General Member will contest Local Body Elections of 274 Union Councils of the provincial capital.

A total of 1343 candidates of Chairman and Vice Chairman filed their nomination papers, of whom, 190 withdrew while 4 have been elected unopposed.

District Returning Officers (DROs), Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) have already been appointed by the ECP for this purpose, and they have been asked to fulfil their duties in accordance with the provision of law and rules and maintain impartiality.

Two army battalions will be on patrolling in the metropolis on election day while no political party would be allowed to set up office in front of any other party’s office.
