Survey on dilapidated buildings ordered

The City District Government has decided to conduct a survey on dangerous and dilapidated buildings after a terrible earthquake jolted most parts of the country on October 26.

A dreadful quake on Monday’s afternoon struck South Asian countries including India and Afghanistan whereas a bulk of the casualties were reported in Pakistan, where over 300 people were killed and more than 1,800 injured, disaster management authorities said.

According to local administration, about 448 ramshackle buildings are present in the metropolis which have also faced damage due to recent earthquake. The district government claimed that more than 50 buildings have been bulldozed while 122 buildings have been renovated so far.

The authority has decided advance arrangements in low lying areas as protection of life and property of citizens is prime responsibility of the government.

Moreover, the department has also directed to appoint vigilant staff for monitoring.
