A spokesman of the Interior Ministry on Friday strongly rejected news items published in section of press that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed dissatisfaction over the progress so far made in implementation of National Action Plan.

A section of media published news that the PM had expressed his dissatisfaction in a meeting regarding National Action Plan on Thursday.

He said that participants of the meeting generally agreed that security situation of the country had improved significantly as result of implementation of 20-points National Action Plan and satisfactory progress was being made on many points.

The spokesman said the PM stated that though performance of some provinces was slow as compared to others on points which were domain of provinces and stressed the need for more work by these provinces.

He said it is unfortunate that PM’s statement was presented out of context and linked to his dissatisfaction on overall progress of National Action Plan.

He said giving wrong impression to PM’s statement is tantamount to negative presentation of progress made on national agenda.

The spokesman said the National Action Plan is not a plan of any single province, political party and institution. “All political forces, provinces, ministries and institutions are part of this national agenda.”

The spokesman said negative speculation and political point-scoring through such news must be discouraged so nobody could criticise baselessly this important national agenda for their vested interests.
