Why so fearful of military courts?

Rana Tanvir says courts established during martial law aren’t same as proposed military courts

Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir Hussain has said that military courts were the joint decision of military and political leadership and nobody should have any reservation about them.

Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating development schemes in Iqbal Town, Kot Abdul Malik on Sunday, the minister said that the aim of the military courts was to try terrorists alone. The decision has no political purpose whatsoever.

Hussain said that there is a great difference between the proposed military courts and the courts established during martial law. He further stated that PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari should demonstrate the same spirit for the establishment of the military courts that he had shown when supporting the government on the matter. He hoped that Pakistan would soon be purged of all kinds of terrorism.

“It is the need of the hour that every individual should play his role for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan by setting aside their differences,” he said.
