The anti-riots squad and anti-dacoits operation force is being formed from current workforce of Sindh reserve police which will be equipped with the latest equipment, arms and ammunition.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) SRP Asif Aijaz Shaikh told this on Wednesday in a briefing to Sindh IG Ghulam Haider Jamali during his visit to SRP Headquarters and SRP Base II.
The SRP DIG said a comprehensive training programme for the personnel had been constituted. He said more than 200 cops of SRP had been deployed to district police for highway patrolling. He said out of 5,756 workforce of SRP, 396 cops were performing their responsibilities with Karachi police.
However, 395 cops of quick response force are on disposal of Karachi police and 1,090 personnel are performing their duties in other districts of Sindh. In addition, 571 personnel are deployed to different sensitive locations.
Asif Aijaz requested for repair of SRP building, and catering need of vehicles and ammunitions for improving performance.
The Sindh IG agreed on recommendation of raise in salaries of SRP staff and instructed the authorities to set logical and practical recommendations for making salaries of SRP equivalent to salaries of special security unit (SSU) personnel.
