RPO conference reviews NAP implementation, law and order

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera chaired a RPO conference through video link at the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday to review the implementation on the National Action Plan (NAP), restructuring of traffic police, settlement of pending promotion cases and security of foreign experts working on all development projects.

All senior officers of CPO including Additional IGP (AIGP) Establishment Nasimul Zaman, AIGP Operations Capt (r) Arif Nawaz, AIGP Welfare and Finance Sohail Khan, AIGP Training Usman Khattak, AIGP Investivation Tariq Masood Yasin, AIGP PHP Javed Islam, AIGP Traffic Rai Altaf, AIGP Special Branch Dr Arif Mushtaq, AIGP CTD Rai Muhammad Tahir and Punjab Constabulary commandant Hussain Asghar were present at the conference.

The IGP directed all the RPOs to expedite the implementation on the NAP in the light of apex committee’s decisions as a front line force on war against terrorism in the province.

It was also decided that a unified traffic warden system will be introduced in all cities of the province with a view to improve the traffic system, flow of traffic and redressal of public complaints in this regard.

The meeting further decided that in future, posting tenure of traffic officers will not be more than three years and all officials will be repatriated in their parent departments from traffic police. The IGP was told that 500 traffic officers have been transferred so far under these instructions. The conference also decided that all field officers will directly monitor the licensing branches in their respective districts and will also take strict action against all the black sheeps of these branches who are bringing a bad name to the department.
