KARACHI/LAHORE:
Lawyers held a country-wide protest on Tuesday against the killings of two of their colleagues by police in Daska town of Punjab, according to local media sources.
The killings sparked violent protests in several cities of Punjab, including Lahore and Gujranwala, prompting bar associations to announce countrywide boycott of courts, reportedly.
According to details, lawyers boycotted court proceedings today and staged protests in different cities, including Daska, Gujranwala and Sialkot.
In Lahore, infuriated lawyers, during their protest, made a failed attempt to barge into main gate of Punjab Assembly. However, they burnt tents erected outside the building, changing slogans against police and provincial government, and turned over a police car, according to media channels.
