Karachi braves second Naegleria death of year

Another Naegleria patient died in a private hospital in Karachi on Friday; however, the health department officials could not confirm the death.

The hospital sources said 37-years-old, Farooq Mir, resident of Clifton area of Karachi, died of the brain-eating naegleria fowleri in their hospital. He was brought to the hospital four days ago and died on Friday.

Earlier, an eighteen-year-old girl, resident of Gulistan-e-Jauhar, admitted to a private hospital with naegleria fowleri disease had died during treatment last month.

There are charges that the funds for chlorination of water are not properly utilized and they often go in the pockets of corrupt officials of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).
