One week anti-polio campaign has started on Tuesday in the eight most sensitive union councils of the city in which 263,367 children would be administered polio drops.
The meeting presided over by Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui decided that ulema and people of communities should be involved more and more to make the campaign effective. The remaining children would be given special attention.
The eight most sensitive unions include Muzaffarabad, Musliabad, Gujra Songal, Manghopir Chishti Nagar, Ittehad Town and Islamia Colony. The meeting was told that 98 percent children were vaccinated in the recent campaign.
Siddiqui said the aim of the campaign was to completely eradicate polio from the city. He said the Sindh chief minister had specially issued directives for eradication of polio. The campaign would continue until the complete success.
