Rejecting all the allegations levelled by the Jamat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senior leader Farooq Sattar said the two parties were trying to find a justification for their imminent defeat in the by-election for National Assembly constituency NA-246.
Talking at a press conference on Tuesday, he said the Jamaat, which had always tried to misguide the people, had now been accusing the MQM of setting up “ghost polling stations” and snatching national identity cards.
He said an FIR should be lodged if anybody’s ID card had been snatched. “We reject the allegations these two parties are hurling against us,” he said.
The MQM leader accused the JI and PTI of misguiding people through propaganda. He demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of what he said violation of code of conduct.
Sattar said all the demands of other parties had been met, but the MQM’s requests had not been heeded yet. He warned that the electoral body would equally be held responsible by the MQM if any effort to rob the mandate of people was made.
Meanwhile, MQM candidate for the NA-246 Kanwar Navid Jamil demanded of the authorities to lift a ban on pillion riding to facilitate the voters of the constituency which, he said, belong to poor and middle class community.
