Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Wednesday declared Mitha Ram Hostel Karachi as sub-jail.
The historic hostel has already been under the use of Sindh Rangers. According to details, the decision was made upon a request made by the paramilitary force in view of the security concerns pertaining to the detention of high-profile suspects.
DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar had suggested the provincial government for keeping suspects separately, especially those being interrogated by Rangers after 90 days’ preventive detention ordered by the courts under the Anti Terrorism Act.
He also said that there were security concerns in taking the suspects to courts from central prison Karachi and Landhi jail for hearing of the cases.
