CM approves recruitment of sanitary patrols

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given approval to recruit 4,373 sanitary patrols for Lahore, Rawalpindi and Sheikhupura. Out of them 2,956 officials will be recruited for Lahore, 1,067 for Rawalpindi and 350 for Sheikhupra. Extraordinary rains in Punjab have increased the chances of dengue larva breeding therefore, all government departments must accelerate indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance activities for its control.

This was stated by Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Salman Rafiq while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue Control at the Civil Secretariat on Thursday.

All the departments presented their progress report in the meeting regarding indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance, vector surveillance activities, public awareness seminars, walks, special monitoring of graveyards, junkyards, tyre shops and construction sites. He asked the commissioner Gujranwala for special monitoring of dumping grounds of ceramic industries in Gujranwala so that it could not be converted into dengue breeding spots under open sky.
