CDA prettying up Capital for Metro launch

As work on the Metro Bus Service project nears completion, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has also started the rehabilitation, upgradation and beautification of the roads, markets and green belts across the Federal Capital.

“We have directed our Machine Pool Organization to repair the affected roads and markets at the earliest to facilitate the citizens,” a CDA representative said.

He said the rehabilitation Margalla Avenue, which was most used as major alternative artery during work on Islamabad section of Metro Bus Project had started.

“Other affected roads are also being rehabilitated simultaneously,” he said adding that the civic body was utilising its own resources to complete the maintenance work of the affected roads.

He said that it was decided during a recent meeting held at CDA headquarter that rehabilitation work on all major roads, streets of Islamabad would be started immediately in order to facilitate the public, and in the first phase, main arteries of Islamabad would be repaired.

The Authority has also decided to upgrade the different ‘marakiz’ and class three shopping centres of Islamabad and for this purpose amenities, including streetlights, repair and maintenance and upgradation of footpaths, roads and other facilities and infrastructure in the markets would be ensured.

In order to make Capital city more beautiful and attractive, the CDA has also decided to beautify all entry points, median strips and green belts along the major avenues with colourful flowering plants and fascinating landscaping.
