Body formed for churches’ security

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has formed a four-member committee comprising Christian community to coordinate with the concerned officials of administration as well as police to review and strengthen the security of the churches in the city.

Father Saleh Diego, Salim Michel, Anwer Lal Dean and Liaqat Munnawer are the Christian community members in the committee. Siddiqui decided this in a meeting of Peace and Harmony Committee at his office. The committee has been asked to submit its suggestions for the security.

He said the government had made effective arrangements for the security of churches and steps had also been taken for the well-being and development of the community. “Christian community enjoys equal rights and equal opportunities as citizens of Pakistan.”

Additional Commissioner Karachi-I Javed Sibhgatullah Mehar, Paster Amjad Farooq, Father Saleh Diego,  Anthnry D’silva, Alexander D’silva, Salim Michel, Father Asher Iftikhar,  Emmanuel Victor, Sarfaraz Asif Younus S Khan and Mushtaq Matto were also present.
