The Rawalpindi district and sessions judge has summoned Superintendent Adiala Jail Malik Mushtaq who refused to hang Shoaib Sarwar, a convict on death row.

According to the reports, District and Session Judge Muhammad Tanveer Akbar issued death warrants for Shoaib Sarwar in the murder case from Wah Cant, and ordered him to be hanged on February 3, 2015.

However, Superintendent Adiala Jail Malik Mushtaq has challenged the ruling, refusing to implement the court orders. He was of the opinion that the government has brought back the death penalty for terrorists, while this was general murder case.

The court expressed its annoyance over the matter and issued a notice summoning Malik Mushtaq for an explanation.

A case of murder was filed against the culprit back in 1996 while Session Court awarded him a death penalty in 1998. Both High Court and Supreme Court have dismissed the appeals of the convict and the session court signed his death warrant a day before.
