Faisalabad police registered first information reports (FIRs) against 250 unidentified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers on Tuesday following violent protests a day earlier which resulted in the death of one PTI activist.
During the protests, 23-year-old Haq Nawaz was shot dead allegedly by an unidentified Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) worker.
Earlier in the day, PTI supporters gathered at Mall Road in Lahore to offer funeral prayers for Nawaz. PTI leaders Abdul Aleem Khan and Omer Sarfaraz Cheema were also present.
As PTI observed a day of mourning to protest Nawaz’s killing, chants against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were heard at the location while a crowd of PTI workers was seen burning tyres on Mall Road, which was sealed off, inconveniencing citizens and motorists.
