*CM says police to be provided with more funds to maintain law and order

Police has to change its behaviour with the common man and police stations should be a source of provision of justice to the citizens, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high level meeting on Friday which considered various proposals for reformation of police system, improvement of working conditions at police stations and provision of prompt justice to the citizens.

The chief minister said that provision of prompt justice to the people and protection of life and property of citizens is the prime responsibility of police and it should perform its duties efficiently and honestly.

He said that modern information technology can help improve the system of provision of justice to citizens in police stations and computerised record management system is essential for registration of complaints. He said that citizens’ feedback communication system can play an important role in providing justice to the common man. He directed that an effective system of monitoring should be devised besides measures be taken for improving efficiency of police.

EFFECTIVE MEASURES TO OVERCOME ENERGY CRISIS:

Meanwhile, the chief minister also presided over a high-level meeting which reviewed proposals with regard to off-grid solar solution in private sector. He said that effective measures are being taken for overcoming energy crisis and a programme has been evolved to install solar panels in primary schools which will help in uninterrupted supply of electricity to the schools. He directed that the project of installation of solar panels in primary schools be given final shape as early as possible.
