A contempt application has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) for violating court orders.

The application was filed in the marches case which was pending before a LHC full bench comprising Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar and Justice Anwaarul Haq.

Petitioner Ilamud Din Ghazi through his application submitted that the bench had restrained PTI and PAT from launching Azadi and Inqilab marches and holding dharnas at Islamabad after declaring that their demands were apparently in conflict with the Constitution.

He submitted that the respondent parties had launched the marches and held dharnas at Islamabad despite clear orders of the court. “The disobedience of the court order is worst kind of contempt,” he added.

The petitioner pleaded the court to punish PTI and PAT under Article 204 of the Constitution and Contempt of Court Ordinance 2003 for violating court orders of August 13.

He also pleaded the court to permanently disqualify members of PTI and PAT.
