Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Monday invited Afghanistan’s president-elect Dr Ashraf Ghani to visit Pakistan.
“Close cooperative bilateral ties serve the interests of our two peoples and the cause of peace, stability and prosperity in the region. Indeed, a deeper partnership between our two countries is a strategic imperative,” PM Sharif said in a message to Ghani.
The prime minister also pledged good ties with Afghanistan in his message to Afghan president-elect and invited him to visit Pakistan, the Foreign Ministry said.
“I fully share your view that Pakistan and Afghanistan should have a special relationship. I look forward to working closely with you for the realisation of this forward-looking vision,” Sharif said, adding that Pakistan and Afghanistan share an abiding relationship underpinned by indissoluble bonds of faith, culture, kinship and history.
