Chief Meteorologist Mohammad Riaz has said that the holy month of Ramadan is expected to start on June 30 (Monday).
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet tonight in Karachi for the sighting of the moon. The meeting will be presided over by committee Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman.
According to the meteorological department, there are limited chances that the moon will be sighted in the coastal areas of Balochistan but the chances of sighting the moon are bleak due to the bad weather.
The federal government has written a letter to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to welcome Ramadan on the same day across the country.
Provincial Religious Affairs Minister Habibul Rehman said that his government is willing to cooperate with the federal government for a unanimous decision.
He said that the federal government has requested KP not to start Ramadan a day before the rest of the country.
The KP government has called a meeting of the zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committee on Saturday.
