17 Pindi buildings declared insecure

The Punjab Emergency Services Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi has declared 17 government and private buildings insecure due to inadequate firefighting equipment and lack of emergency exit points.

Rescue 1122 district emergency officer said survey of all the high-rise buildings of Rawalpindi, Cantt and suburbs has been completed with the advent of summer season in terms of presence of fire extinguishing equipment, emergency exit door and other arrangements.

According to report, 17 buildings including Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Poonch House complex, state life building, state bank building, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, District Headquarters hospital, PIA Mall road office, Gakhar Plaza and controller military accounts office have been declared unsafe. It has been recommended that installation of fire fighting equipment, smoke alarming system be ensured immediately therein for the safety and security of citizens and record of the offices.

Notices have been issued to the concerned authorities of these buildings.
