Youm-e-Takbeer, the celebration of Pakistan’s atomic explosions in 1998, is being observed across country with national zeal and fervour on Wednesday.
Pakistan, on May 28, 1998, joined the prestigious club of seven nuclear powers, by conducting nuclear tests in response to India’s initiative of testing nukes on May 11 and 13, the same year.
In a message to the nation on the occasion of 16th Youm-e-Takbeer, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated the nation.
He said that the nuclear weapons have made Pakistan’s defence impregnable. The PM said that the nuclear arsenal is in safe hands and the government is committed to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes according to the the international laws.
He adding that the nuclear technology has also been assisting various sectors of the economy in Pakistan.
A remarkable ceremony in connection with the day will be held at the place of Chaghi model near Faizabad interchange.
The ceremony will be addressed by Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah and MNA Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
Various organisations will also stage rallies and hold seminars to highlight importance of the day. Rich tributes will be paid to the team of nuclear scientists.
