Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid on Thursday said that Pakistan was keen in the development of Science and Technology (S&T) sector and was playing an active role in this regard.
In a meeting with Italy based World Academy of Science Executive Director Prof Romain Murenzi, the minister said that they were working for the science diplomacy and South-South cooperation, said a release issued Thursday.
He further apprised the official of World Academy of Science that students of member countries of Commission on S&T for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) are studying in the leading universities of Pakistan. They also discussed areas of mutual interest particularly in the field of S&T in the meeting.
The executive director thanked the minister for the role played by Pakistan in S&T sector and said science and technology was working as a tool for foreign policy in the comity of world.
“Through science diplomacy, the soft image of Pakistan would be projected in the world,” he added.
Federal Secretary for Science and Technology Kamran Ali Qureshi and COMSATS Executive Director Dr IE Qureshi were also present in the meeting.
