Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has urged the international community should come up with an integrated and coherent policy regarding Afghanistan in the post-2014 scenario, and stressed on greater coordination among all the stakeholders.
The minister said this while talking to Richard Stagg, UK’s high commissioner to Afghanistan, who called on him on Wednesday. The UK’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Philip Barton was also present during the meeting.
The minister said that situation in Afghanistan was complex and called for thorough debate among the international community.
Chaudhry Nisar said Afghanistan would be undergoing massive transformation during the current year adding that solution of the problems being faced by the country must come from within.
He reiterated that Government of Pakistan was maintaining a non-partisan policy in regional matters.
The minister said the government recently presented the country’s first National Internal Security Policy, which would be helpful in meeting the challenges faced by terrorism and militancy.
Talking about Pakistan–UK relations, he said that Pakistan and UK enjoy good relations which are spread over all sectors which would be further strengthened in the years to come.
Stagg said the international community recognises the important role that Pakistan has played in establishing peace in the region with particular reference to the changing situation in Afghanistan.
