Eight people from KP get civil awards

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Barrister Masood Kausar awarded civil awards to eight prominent personalities of the province for their valuable contribution in various fields on the eve of Pakistan Day at Governor’s House Peshawar on Wednesday. A special ceremony held at Jirga Hall was attended by the provincial minsiters, parliamentarians, high ranking government officials and notables. The governor formally gave away pride of performance awards to Dr Shafqat Karim for his outstanding work in Physics, Professor Dr Muhammad Rasool Jan for Chemistry, Taj Dar Aalam for Educational Communication and Khan Tehsil
for folk music.
He also awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to Professor Dr Habib Ahmad for his contribution to cytogenetics, Dr Moosa Kaleem for chemistry, Dr Humayun Huma for literature and Waris Khan for social services. Meanwhile, protesting over the allocation of seats on back benches, tribal parliamentarians boycotted the civil-awards-distribution ceremony at the Governor’s House Peshawar Wednesday. As many as five parliamentarians were invited on the ceremony but they boycotted the ceremony as they were allocated seats on back benches.
The tribal MPs who protested and boycotted the ceremony were Akhunzada Chattan from Bajaur Agency, Kamran Wazir from North Waziristan, Maulana Abdul Malik from South Waziristan, Sajid Hussain Toori from Kurram Agency and Senator Hafiz Abdul Rashid from Mohmand Agency. The MPs said that bureaucrats were given seats on front rows whereas the elected parliamentarians were given back benches.
