Chief of Balochistan National Party, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, has said the present rulers were helpless before the establishment.

He said they were unable to stop the recovery of mutilated bodies of Baloch political workers across the province.

Addressing a press conference at his residence on Monday, Mengal said under a pre-planned conspiracy, the province was being pushed towards turmoil.

“The present government is either helpless or involved in the killing of Baloch people,” Mengal said.

He elaborated that if the present government was helpless, it should quit and publicly announce its weakness before what he called state institutions.

Regarding a bomb attack at his residence, the BNP chief said, such “cowardly acts” could not stop his party from raising its voice for Baloch rights and resources.

He said despite threats and intimidation, the BNP would continue its struggle.

The BNP has already called protest demonstrations across the province on September 5 to condemn attack at Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s residence.

Mengal said despite all odds, his party decided to participate in the May 11 general elections, adding that the major reason behind participation in elections was to bring an end to the worsening law and order and stop human rights violations.

“We want to restore traditional peace in Balochistan,” he added.

However, he said his party candidates’ victory was turned into defeat due to its struggle for Baloch rights and resources.

Mengal rejected deals signed by the federal government with regard to GwadarDeepSeaPort, Reko diq and other projects relating to Balochistan.

He also announced re-organisation of BNP and cancelled all memberships across Balochistan.

He said a committee comprising senior leaders of the BNP had been formed to meet party workers and re-organise the party to struggle for acquisition of “usurped” Baloch rights.
