Public transporters fined for overcharging

Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) Secretary Khawaja Maqbool Mustafa conducted traffic checking on various inter and intra city routes and fined public transporters up to Rs 35,500 for overcharging.

Traffic checking was carried out on route number 121, 24, 6-1, Faizabad, Pirwadai and Tarnol. The secretary imposed heavy fines, challaned 23 public service vehicles and impounded 2 for overcharging commuters.

The secretary said that the passengers had complained about transporters over charging on the eve of Eid. “Warnings have been issued to all transporters against overcharging and violators would have to pay heavy on spot fines,” he added.

He informed that the traffic checking drive would continue till Eid and he would conduct checks on various routes and bus stops to curb profiteering.

  1. Transport authority please inform public about the seating plan and route fare so that they can ask for justice.
    No authority is checking that either the public transports are completing the routes or not.
    I am asking to authorities that what they will answer to Allah about their duties?
    All the transport vehicles should display the route + fare + time to reach on every stop on the prominent place in vehicle and there should be complaint number for call and SMS for any trouble faced by passenger.
