Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday said that electricity and gas theft was a menace in which some ‘influential’ were involved.
Shahbaz said these anti-social elements were robbing the nation of billions and deserved no mercy.
Talking to Lahore district assembly members, Shahbaz said that actions were being taken on war footing for bringing the energy crisis under control and the government would soon succeed in steering the country out of this crisis.
The CM said that along with the factory owners involved in electricity and gas theft, corrupt government officers were also being taken to task. He advised the lawmakers to take the lead in the campaign against electricity and gas thieves.
