Eid-ul-Fitr shopping has yet to gain momentum in the twin cities. Various stalls have been set up in main markets including Super, Jinnah Super, Aabpara, Karachi Company, Commercial, Raja Bazaar and Saddar.

The number of visitors is gradually increasing in the markets and so are the sales. From late morning to mid-night, footpaths, makeshift sale stalls and shopping malls, illuminated to welcome Eid, have started receiving crowds including mainly women.

The shopping frenzy is expected to reach its peak in the first week of August as salaries are received around that time. “Buyers are not taking much interest as of now but as Eid approaches the bazaars will be jam-packed,” said a shopkeeper at Aabpara Market.

He observed that the salaried class was most probably waiting for their salary to arrive. “We are hopeful to earn a handsome profit this year especially as the holy month of Ramadan approaches to an end,” he added.
