Commissioner seeks better municipal facilities

SAHIWAL – Sahiwal Division Commissioner Qazi Muhammad Ashfaq has said the provision of municipal services to the citizens is the top priority of Punjab government and clean drinking water, cleanliness, proper sewerage system and other utilities will be ensured at all costs. He said this while visiting Sahiwal to check the quality of development work carried out by the provincial government under the city package.
He visited DPS Road, Jahaz Ground Colony, Farid Town, Gunj Shakar Colony, Pak Avenue Colony, High Street, Jhal Road and GT Road during while Development Director Habib Jillani and Administrator Sohail Ashraf also accompanied him.
He directed the tehsil municipal administration (TMA) to discontinue all illegal water and sewerage connections and take action against those officials who granted these connections without any sanction.
He also directed to solve sewerage problem in k-Block of Farid Town and remove silt from 6-R Minor on priority basis that was passing through the city.
Qazi Muhammad Ashfaq also visited the under construction meat market in Farid Town and Faridia Park and directed the building department to ensure quality work in given time. He also directed to provide all basis facilities especially ample space for parking in these markets for the convenience of the general public.
TWO DIE IN ROAD ACCIDENT: Two people died while three got injured in a road accident. Reportedly, Iqbal Sindhu, a resident of Bhawalpur, was returning on his car after attending a marriage in Sahiwal with his wife Rukhsana, mother-in-law Razia and children. When he reached Sahiwal-Arifwala Road, a cyclist came in front of his car and the car turned turtle in an effort to save the cyclist. Resultantly, Iqbal and his mother-in-law died instantly while his wife and children received injuries and were taken to the district headquarters hospital.
TWO STUDENTS BOOKED FOR CHEATING IN EXAMINATION: At least two students were booked in separate incidents for cheating in the examination. In the first incident, student Khalid Imran was appearing in the examination in place of Rizwan in Higher Secondary School Noor Shah. The superintendent caught him and handed over to the police that registered a case against him. In the second incident that happened in an examination centre in Chak No 96-12L, a student Toqueer was caught red handed by superintendent while copying. He was also handed over to the police that registered a case against him.
FOUR WOMEN ABDUCTED IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS: At least four women were abducted in separate incidents. In the first incident, Naeem, a resident of Chak No, 85-6R, along with six other accused, abducted Zubaida Bibi and escaped.
In the second incident, Amant, a resident of Chak No 89-6R, abducted Anwar Bibi with the help of two other accused and escaped. In the third incident, Irfan, a resident of Mouza Raja Dillo, along with four other accused, abducted two married sisters Safia and Asia and escaped.
