Khairpur goes on strike against PPP MNA’s escape from court

A complete shutter-down strike was observed on Sunday on the call of PML-F against escape of PPP MNA Nawab Khan Wassan from the court after on Saturday.
Three policemen have been suspended and arrested on the directions of the Sukkur deputy inspector general (DIG) for their involvement in the escape.
Wassan had appeared in the Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) in Khairpur in the murder case of PML-F worker Abdul Wahab Moreejo.
Later, the PML-F workers and relatives of the deceased took to the streets and blocked the National Highway and burnt tyres late night.
On Sunday, all markets, business centres, hotels, petrol pumps and CNG station remained closed.
The PML-F workers also took out a rally and protested against police for not arresting the PPP MNA.
Meanwhile, the Sukkur DIG, taking notice of the protests, suspended and arrested three cops, SHO-A-Section Zulfiqar Ali Qureshi, CIA Inspector Shabbir Jamali and Investigation Inspector Amin Pathan.
Newly-elected PPP lawmaker Nawab Khan Wassan escaped after the ATC cancelled his interim bail in the murder case.
After rejection of the bail application, PPP activists vandalised the courtroom and damaged the furniture. The miscreants also attacked officials, including ASP Masood Bangash.
Taking advantage of the violence, the PPP fled from the court.
PML-F worker Abdul Wahab was killed while Tahir Imtiaz Phulpoto, Amir Morejo, Mashooq Ali, Mudasir Mughal, Fida Hussain were injured at Mumtaz College polling station after they were attacked on May 11.
