The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Thursday recommend up to Rs 2.20 per litre hike in POL prices from June 1.
A summary was moved in this regard by the Ministry of Petroleum on Thursday, sources said.
According to the summary, petrol rates were recommended to be hiked by Rs 2.20 per litre and that of light diesel by Rs 0.10.
A cut of Rs 1.50 per litre in hi-speed diesel price has been proposed, as well as a cut of Rs 0.40 per liter in Kerosene oil price.
Sources said OGRA would notify new rates after a final approval of the summary in consultation with petroleum and finance ministries.
The new rates would be affective from June 1.
