Former interior minister Rehman Malik on Sunday said PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif had been asked to act as the guarantor for peace talks between the Taliban and the army, “so let’s see what role he will play in bringing peace”.

Talking to reporters at BenazirBhuttoInternationalAirport on his arrival from London, he said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would support the new PML-N-led government in the war against terrorism as Nawaz had helped the PPP government.

“We will support the government in the war on terror and play our due role of the opposition in the National Assembly,” he stated.

Malik admitted that drone strikes had increased during the PPP-led government.

“Deputy Air Marshal, in his briefing to the security committee formed by the PPP government, revealed that the Pakistan Air Force is capable of destroying drones. Now, let’s see what stance the new government will adopt.”

The former interior minister alleged that PPP’s mandate was stolen in the May 11 polls. He said rigging allegations were rampant and “the nation won’t forgive the chief election commissioner if he fails to take any action”.

Talking about his meeting with Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain in London, he said both parties had agreed to work together.

“I am going to convey Altaf Hussain’s message to President Zardari.”

  1. IF CIVIL JUDICIARY LAWS ARE NOT EFFECTIVE TO EX-ARMY-SERVICE MEN,THEN WHY MILITARY LAWS ARE EFFECTIVE ON CIVIL SERVANTS IN PAKISTAN? PML N MUST THINK ON THIS ISSUE AND MILITARY LAWS WOULD NOT BE PUT ON CIVIL SERVANTS AND ARMY MUST BE BANNED AND A NEW LAW MUST BE FORMULATED AND ARMY INTERFERENCE IN CIVIL AFFAIRS MUST BE BANNED..
