An unidentified person on Saturday managed to escape with around 100 ballot papers from polling station-78 of Havelian, police sources said.
The presiding officer Sohail Shah had left his table to go to a polling booth when an unidentified person took away the 100 ballot papers (serial numbers 1601 to 1700), in his absence.
After learning about the incident, Shah instantly informed the police and lodged a First Investigation Report (FIR) in the concerned police station.
The presiding officer further said the security situation at polling stations was not satisfactory and that only 400 to 500 votes were caste while a number of people were waiting outside for their turn.
