Punjab Inspector General of Police Aftab Sultan urged all religious factions to join hands with the police to counter terrorism in the province. Addressing an 11-member delegation of Shiite scholars at the Central Police Office Lahore on Tuesday he said that sectarian harmony was the only instrument through which terrorism could be countered.

The delegation members included Alhaj Haider Ali Mirza, Molana Waqar Naqvi, Agha Abbas, Zahid Bukhari, Saleem Bukhari, Aslam Malik, Mian Khan Sahib, Zameer Aslam, Mian Zeeshan, Akhter Bukhari and Khwaja Basharat.

The delegation requested the IGP for expediting terrorism investigation cases lying pending with the police department for the last two years against Shiites. The IGP told the delegation that all-out possible steps were being adopted by the police department for the security of all religious scholars in the province.
