IGP order advance intelligence collection

Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari on Monday received the progress report regarding interrogation of Abbas Town blast from head of investigation team namely Crime Investigation Department (CID) Additional Inspector General (AIG) Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh.
He directed the officials concerned to expedite in advance intelligence collection for arrests of the accused involved in the blast and urged them to accelerate result-oriented raids and targeted operations in the light of available evidences. He instructed to beef up security in sensitive areas, particularly around imambarghs. He also directed to enhance random snap checking and surveillance in sensitive areas.
The IGP further directed the officials concerned to make comprehensive security arrangements around masjids, seminaries, public places, markets, industrial zones, government buildings, sensitive installations, fast food chains and hotels, and to deploy police personnel in plainclothes, beside increasing snap checking, search and setting up police pickets at exits and entrance points of important areas.
It was revealed in a crime analysis report that motorcycles were used in most of these terrorist activities and other heinous crimes, while majority of motorcycle riders were using substandard number plates which were not even clearly visible.
IGP Fayyaz directed the police to contact Excise and Taxation Department for issuance of quality number plates for motorcycles registered till date and to ensure the availability of data of motorcycles bearing registration plates of other provinces. He urged the officers to take advantage of latest technology to trace down the snatched motorcycles, vehicles and criminals, besides improving the performance of teams constituted for this purpose.
