A lot is being said by the Election Commission of Pakistan about the verification of voter lists before the general elections in Pakistan. Through the courtesy of your newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of Chief Election Commissioner Mr Fakhruddin G Ebrahim.
I live in Karachi. Last week, three people who claimed themselves to be representatives of the Election Commission came to my house for the purpose of voter lists verification. Due to working day, I was not at home. My wife and my 20-year-old son attended to them. They asked my wife about name of head of family, total number of family members and their ages.
None of the EC representatives demanded our CNICs, nor they asked for our CNIC numbers.
I would like to ask honourable Chief Election Commissioner if the way the verification of voter lists is being carried out is right. Will I be able to cast my vote in the next general elections (if held) with such weak verifications by the Election Commission?
I would like to draw the attention of Chief Election Commissioner Mr Fakhruddin G Ebrahim.
