Few days back, an ad appeared in a national newspaper in which Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat, Islamabad, invited applications from suitable candidates for various posts. For more details the website of the secretariat was referred to in the ad and no more details/ requirements were mentioned in the newspaper ad. I, being a candidate, have been struggling hard to browse their website (www.mohtasib.gov.pk) but have been unable to access it at all. Since the very day of the ad, the website is not accessible. I am afraid that there is something fishy going on. The last date of receipt of application is 29 December, 2012. The Federal Ombudsman (Wafaqi Mohtasib) has been recently appointed after many years but the things seem to be as usual in his office. I would like to request the concerned departments/ officials to investigate as to why the website is nonoperational since the publication of the ad.
There should be transparency in the process of appointment of Advisors, Consultants and Investigation officers; merit should be the only consideration for the appointment of professionals of integrity and competence in the Wafaqi Mohtasib.
