Intermittent rain, snowfall increases in KP, Punjab

Intermittent rain and snowfall in mountainous regions of up country and central parts has increased chill in weather while fog gripped various areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa causing problems and halt in flow of traffic due to low visibility at many places.
According to Meteorological department, during past 24 hours, two feet snowfall was recorded in Murree, Malam Jabba and Kalam while one foot in Parachinar and Rawalakot while more rain has been predicted in some upper parts of country and snowfall on hilltops was also expected.
Due to snowfall the vehicular traffic also remained suspended on some roads, however, traffic resumed after most of the roads were cleared. On the other hand many people are venturing to reach Murree, Nathiagali and Malam Jabba and Kalam to enjoy from snow covered scenery.
The maximum of 47 millimeter rain was recorded in Kotli‚ Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and 44 millimeters in Malam Jabba.
The upper areas of Neelam and Leepa valleys also received heavy rain and snowfall. Besides the capital city of Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Rawalakot (Poonch) Kotli, Bhimbher and other cities received heavy rain.
Thandiyani, Nathiagali, Donga Gali, Changla Gali, Ayubia and surrounding hilly areas of Galyat received heavy snowfall.
Traffic police has advised tourists not to travel to hilly areas and particularly avoid traveling in late hours.
