Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of the Indian state of Bihar, was recently on a three-day official visit to Pakistan with a delegation of ministers, lawmakers and senior officials. He landed at Karachi airport where he was received by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and senior members of his cabinet. Supporters of the PPP were present in large numbers to welcome the Indian guests with banners and placards. One huge banner that I noticed on television footage carried a spelling mistake: chief was spelt as c-h-e-i-f instead of c-h-i-e-f. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and his so-called senior cabinet members were present at the airport but no one bothered to notice and have the banner removed. I fear we only succeeded in showing the whole world our merit of education.
