Chief Minister of Indian State of Bihar Shri Nitish Kumar along with 12-member delegation on Sunday visited the mazars of Bhutto family at Garhi Khuda Baksh.
The Indian delegation drove in a motorcade amid tight security from Moen-Jo-Daro , wherein they flown in from Karachi. Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh Ministers Aga Siraj Durrani, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro and Sassui Palejo, and other leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party accompanied the Indian guests. Led by the CM Bihar, the Indian team visited the mazars of former prime ministers of Pakistan and leaders of PPP Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, former First Lady and former chairperson PPP, Madr-e-Jamhooriat late Begum Nusrat Bhutto, first wife of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto late Shireen Amir Begum, two sons of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto—Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shaheed Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto.
The CM of Indian State of Bihar and other delegates laid floral wreaths on the mazars and stood silent for a while to pay homage to these PPP leaders. The delegation visited various sections of the mausoleum of Bhutto family, where the construction work is still in progress. Sindh Minister for Local Bodies Aga Siraj Durrani also briefed the Indian CM and his team about the mausoleum. Earlier, on their arrival at Moen-Jo-Daro airport from Karachi by a special plane, Chief Minister Bihar Nitish Kumar and his 12-member delegation was warmly welcomed by school students, scouts, girl guides, officials of District Administration. The students and scouts showered rose petals over them.
In my opinion, the visit was crucial, not only because it enabled the top leaders of two hostile nations to come together, but also because its timing was of immense significance. It came about when the US and Nato are about to pull out most of their combatants from Afghanistan.
