President Asif Ali Zardari has recently shown his generosity again towards the people of Sindh. As per press reports, the seats reserved for students of Sindh (except Karachi) in newly upgraded Jinnah Sindh Medical University of Karachi were 23. In other words, the average number of seats for the rest of 22 districts of Sindh comes only one seat per district. President Zardari showing his so-called generosity towards the people of Sindh has increased the number of seats from 1 to 2 per district.
The people of Sindh are striving hard to lift restrictions on admissions of Sindhi students in Karachi institutes imposed on them during the govt of military dictator General (retd) Musharraf. The ruling PPP made huge promise during the last general elections to do away with such restrictions. Despite heavy protest demonstrations from students and others from time to time, the PPP govt has forgotten its said promise like others made towards people of Sindh in the past.
The people of Sindh also protest on changing the name of the Sindh Medical University by Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad through an ordinance.
