Giving political statements not domain of CJ, army chief: Aitzaz

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said on Tuesday that Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry did not have the authority to issue political statements.
Speaking to media persons outside the Lahore High Court (LHC), Aitzaz said the interim verdict of the Supreme Court pertaining to the Balochistan law and order case was non-implementable. He said the verdict was similar to Article 58-2B which allowed the sacking of elected representatives.
He said the courts should only speak through just judgments and added that the army chief did not have the right to make political statements.
Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan added that if the army or the government did anything against the judiciary, the people would take a stand for it.
Earlier on Monday, General Kayani had stated that any efforts to create a divide between the people and armed forces undermined the country’s greater national interest.
Later on the same day, Chief Justice Iftikhar had emphasized that missiles and tanks never guaranteed the stability and security of a country and nor were they considered a manifestation of ‘hard power’.

    • Yeah this blind follower of Corrupt PPP never raised voice against corrupt politicians and supported corrupt,thug like zardari and many thiefs in the party and the power.
      Where was and is he when so many blasts happen,when country gets raped by the PPP,why he never speaks on NRO,fake degrees of his fellow PPP ministers,members,why he didnt speak against the treason of zardari and haqqani in memogate case,Aitzaz is just an opputunist and corrupt lawyer,law breaker of PPP.Stop ur foul mouth ,we respect our C.J and the Army.

  3. How come such similar comments are made by people unless someone has arranged for such comments to be delivered.
    May be their techniques need refining, to make their comments appear more credible.

  4. Mr. Aitzaz Ahsan is absolutely right. Both the COAS and the CJ must watch their statements and ensure no political comment Is included advertantly or inadvertently.

In Pakistan every thing is allowed to work regarding politics in our courts and GHQ.It is political pressure of people that given rise to chaudry ifitkhar , that is why he time to time slips from his domain and GHQ is all time controller of political process of Pakistan so it is in job list of COAS to point political blunders of those who shouldn't nt cross the line marked by him and his team.

  7. I could not make out any political comment in what the COAS said. If somebody could be specific about it. This goofy is broke again.

  9. I don't like CJ because he has played to galleries instead of giving justice. He released terrorists. He failed to provide Justice to people. He disgraced the blood of Shaheeds and paid compensations to terrorists. He is protecting his son and his ill gotten money.
