Jamaat ud Dawah leader Hafiz Saeed offered relief assistance to Americans affected by the destructive storm Sandy. In a statement on Tuesday, Saeed said that if the US government accorded permission, his organization was ready to send volunteers, doctors, food, medicines and other relief items on humanitarian considerations. He said that regardless of American sentiments about him and his organization, including the announcement of a bounty on his head, JuD as followers of the model of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), considered it their duty to help Americans devastated by the storm. He said that millions of people had been affected by the storm and there was danger of more loss, and was a humanitarian issue. He said, “Whether they were Muslims or non Muslims, when humanity is faced with a problem, it is our duty to help them.” He said that when the earthquake struck India, they had offered help and similarly extended relief to affected Hindus during floods in Sindh.
