PAF launches plan for new campus of Air University

Pakistan Air Force is going to launch an Enhancement Plan for the new campus of “Air University Multan Sub Campus” on Bahawalpur Road, Multan at a distance of 19-km from the Multan City. Currently, a sub-campus of Air University Islamabad is working at Abdali Road Multan in a commercial plaza and 700 students are enrolled there. The new campus of Air University Multan Sub Campus will be established on 28 acres and will accommodate more than 5000 students in the disciplines of Aviation Engineering, Management Sciences, Computer Sciences and Health Sciences.

The Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a special committee under the convener-ship of Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja to ascertain assistance from the government of Punjab to PAF for the expeditious completion of the enhancement plan of the Air University Multan Sub Campus.

A meeting of the special committee was held under the chairmanship of the ACS Shamail Ahmad Khawaja at Civil Secretariat Lahore today. Secretary Higher Education Punjab Captain (retd) Naseem Nawaz, Member (Education) Punjab Higher Education Commission Khalid Sultan, Member Punjab Board of Revenue Muhammad Anees Sadozai, Additional Secretary Finance Abdul Samad and Additional Secretary (Welfare) S&GAD Danish Afzaal participated in the meeting. Multan Divisional Commissioner Bilal Ahmed Butt, Rector Air University Islamabad Air Commodore (retd) Muhammad Saleem and Director P&D Air University Islamabad attended the meeting through a video link.

Every minute detail regarding the enhancement plan of Air University Multan Sub Campus was discussed in the meeting. The meeting was informed that the PAF has already purchased 15 acres of state land at the rate of Multan District’s land valuation table and the additional land of 13 acres adjacent to the current boundary wall of the under-construction new sub-campus will also be purchased. The enhancement plan comprises of four phases. The plan includes construction of four academic blocks and three residential hostels. The government of Punjab has been taking initiatives to support those people who are making education accessible to all of the people of the province. Establishment of new sub-campus of Air University at Multan is an endeavour in the same direction.

The special committee constituted by the Punjab Chief Minister will submit its detailed report in this regard within a week so that the chief minister could analyse the proposal and will then extend the required assistance for the expeditious completion of the Air University Multan Sub-Campus enhancement plan.
