Former Army Chief General Aslam Beg expresses reservations over the SC verdict in Asghar Khan case but said he has confidence in the judiciary.
In a TV interview‚ Beg said he had no knowledge whether or not ISI was distributing money and he came to know about it through the statement of Nasirullah Babar in the parliament.
Aslam Beg said that the money was distributed with the consent of the then president and caretaker government. He said the money was provided by a person and not banks.
Beg said Asad Durrani had written a letter to Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto mentioning that four PPP leaders had received money‚ whereas there is no mention of PPP men in the affidavit.
Aslam Beg expressed reservations over the Supreme Court ruling but said he has confidence in the judiciary.
He added that Nasirullah Babar had confirmed that Nawaz Sharif had not received the money.
Beg added that the then US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger had played a role in the hanging of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

He shouldnt need to worry about Bhutto's hanging as all is put on the accounts of Zia but by the way on whose pressure C130 was made to crash while flying from military base on military purpose carrying two chiefs at a time.As he was the main beneficiary of this crash and then become COAS so he should have only focus on telling us that who is responsible of blasting this army plane

    • The best thing that he did for Pakistan was to get rid of Zia Ul Haq. For his services, he was decorated with "Democracy" medal.

          • Its not negativity in my comments but its the acts of these people which I discuss and people ignore it while praising their political idols.It is not matter of mistakes but the people who do intentional crimes should be illegible for any kind of influential positions.One can think of giving IK ministry of social or welfare affairs but more than it is not his capacity nor he can qualify.We have very fine politicians distributed in different parties like Itizaz ehsan, Raza rabbani, khawaj asif, palejoo who have good political background with no criminal charges .one can think of supporting them when ever they will come for top seat but surely not under present leadership.

        • I doubt you planted by anti-democratic forces to defame politicians. Civil and military beaurucracy is much more corrupt than politicians who even go to jails for their crimes, but not military and civilian elite who always have free feast on on national exchecquer. You will never speak against them. Such planted research scholars already abound in Pakistan. So, no need of anyone more.

          • There is no doubt in this truth and this is job of politicians to uncover these faces and live and behave like true representatives of people of Pakistan but history clearly showed us that these cartoon like politicians join hands with same bureaucracy and military officials for getting their share not up to this level but they don't want to miss it and that is our complain to them.Both bureaucracy and military are answerable to these public representatives. You see when CJP went to people , people had come to his support but in political no goons no one did or doing like that.If Gillani had quiot the office instead of giving three years term to kiyani or Pasha then he was welcomed and trusted by crowd but in public forums he praised or justified the performance of these dubbos and allotted unreasonable extensions.so he deserved such humiliation

  4. I have one request to all those who are in service whether in uniform or in civies; Learn
    the difference between PRINCIPLES and PRINCIPALS. Then served the latter without
    compromising the former!
    As for the distribution of funds it was done on the orders of the highest authority at that
    time in Pakistan. Incidently both COAS and VCOAS could not be at that function for testing the Abram Tank. As one had to be present in OPs Room in case external threat
    therefore this contention that General Aslam Beg benefitted by the crash is totally wrong. Yes he lacked moral courage to have refused the President at that time about the distribution of funds. Also on August 17, 1988 General Aslam Beg could have siezed power which he did not and opened the way for political rule.

    • This is a well written and a factual portrayal of the circumstances. The senior officers of Pakistan Army acted in good faith in the interest of Pakistan. We had a traumatic event haunting our psyche, an event which should not have happened; I mean loss of East Pakistan. Correct political thinking by those who were capable of doing this would have changed the course of history. The politicians of that time didn't behave responsibly; Bhutto more than any one including late Sheikh Mujeeb ur Rehman. It was not all about supporting some politicians with hand outs, it was the fear of being let down by a certain group of politicians who would do more harm to Pakistan in the name of Pakistan.

    • Pakistan is always under control of two types of generals, Active and passive state
      Ayub, Zia Musharraf come in category of active state where they faced world and Pakistanis with their real forms and cursed after their tenure but Beig, Karmat and now kiayni they are in category of passive form or behind door seaters where they try their best to handle the strings of political cartoons by placing them in front of world and public to cursed in same manner for equaling the former impressions.
      Either it is war on terror or crookedness of Zardari that this time both groups are aligned in very good shape and creating disastrous situation for Pakistan and Pakistanis.
      Beig is true beneficiary of this crash as at that time military leadership could have been divided to different choppers or plane but all trusted their mates.This is same case of Bhutto murder.Zardari is true beneficiary and he is the first hurdle to go for real inquiry for her murder plan but he avoided same as done by Beig.

  14. We should not let the criminal get away with. SC has ruled, and these criminals should be punished, and made an example for other. Nobody should be above the Law.
