Two shot dead

KARACHI – Two people were gunned down on Wednesday by unidentified armed culprits in separate incidents. An elderly man was shot dead on offering resistance during a robbery in Usmanabad, Garden. The deceased identified as 60-year-old Babarud Din was going to the market when two unidentified men on a motorcycle tried to loot valuables from him near Usmanabad, the Garden police said.
They shot him on offering resistance, killing him on the spot. His body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi. The police said that a case under section 302/34 has been registered. Separately, a police officer was killed during an operation against illegal encroachment at the Superhighway.
Shahbaz, 44, a constable posted at Sohrab Goth police station, suffered multiple bullet wounds when some unidentified armed men opened fire on police. He died on the way to a hospital. The deceased was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.
